Lidl launches Germany-wide customer drive "Lidl. Relish with a star"

Cooperation with three German star chefs Kolja Kleeberg, Mario Kotaska and Dieter Müller


Neckarsulm, July 9, 2009. Under the motto “Lidl. Relish with a Star”, the Neckarsulm-based retail company Lidl launches a Germany-wide customer drive.   Together with the three renowned star chefs Kolja Kleeberg, Mario Kotaska and Dieter Müller, Lidl plans to introduce superior taste and genuine gourmet dishes into customers’ kitchens.


“True to our success formula “Good quality for the best price”, we want to demonstrate our customers that special treats do not have to be expensive.  With “Lidl. Relish with a Star” we are substantiating our claim and prove our self-image regarding the quality of our products”, Thorsten Sauter, management Lidl Dienstleistung GmbH & Co. KG, describes the drive’s objectives.  “We are proving once again: Lidl pays off!”


A culinary campaign bursting with highlights


Starting in July 2009, customers will be bent for something:


Each month, Lidl will issue a booklet with elaborate recipes by the star chefs – free of charge for its customers in all German Lidl-stores.  The cooks’ recipes are easy to follow at budget prices with the Lidl product line.  The first edition will be issued on July 13.


Moreover, special editions of the booklets will provide suggestions for full menus to all amateur chefs.  In the first “Special”, to be issued in August, Kolja Kleeberg presents a summer-time three-course dish.


The chefs will also become part of the weekly Lidl flyers.  Recipes of the star chefs will be published consistently along with the Lidl special offers.  Amongst others, the tastes of Spain, Italy or Greece will be explored.  Starting with Kolja Kleeberg in early July, a delicious recipe will pep up barbecues of the Lidl customers.


More heydays and customer offers are to follow over the year.  At the same time, Lidl also launches a company cook-off, in which Lidl employees can prove their creativity and culinary skills.  All campaigns, recipes and information around “Lidl. Relish with a Star” will combine on a separate webpage.  Aside from the chefs’ recipes, at the interested public will find many more dishes to follow, and can draw on useful tips and a multitude of cooking information.
